Ransom Clark was a soldier stationed at Fort Morgan. He was 23 when he survived the horrors of Dead Battle. He was shot 5 times in his lungs, shoulder and other parts of the body and he reached Fort Brooke in 3 days crossing 4 rivers, hungry and thirsty and staggering for 50 miles. More than 100 soldiers were killed in this battle while Ransom Clark survived.
He somehow managed to reach Fort Brooke despite many hardships but died five years later at the age of 28 from gunshot wounds. He is buried in Greensville Cemetery which is located in Wadsworth, Livingston County, New York, USA.
Ransom Clark was a married man and married Eunice Luceba French in 1838 in Albany NY. About a year after the marriage, on 24 August 1839, his wife gave birth to a daughter named Caroline E. Clarke. She petitioned the government in 1860 to receive the dependent government pension remaining from Ransom Clark.
